The Eighth Rung  Business Lab

Students in the MBA Program in the School of Business & Management at Park University will have the opportunity to participate in The Eighth Rung Foundation  Business Lab.  Those accepted in the program will work first hand with client firms and volunteer mentors to develop a “real world” perspective of business.  The Lab allows students to see how their course work is involved in the business process.  Throughout the program students will participate in actual work and decision making with client firms.

The Eighth Rung Foundation Business Lab is designed to provide students with three semesters of business interaction.  During the first semester students shadow the activities of a business in the growth stage of its lifecycle.  Second semester, returning students will have the opportunity to work with start-up ventures.  During the third and final semester students will work with The Eighth Rung Foundation  managers to solicit and review business plans and assist in the selection of new clients.  Students will also be involved in the operational aspects of the center.

As a “classic laboratory” environment, students learn how theory is applied to the practice of business.  The Eighth Rung Foundation  provides students with a “live-lab” learning opportunity where they gain experience, not just with urban entrepreneurs, but with accountants, lawyers, and executives who believe in building the Kansas City urban core.

Our core principle in the success of this exchange: the business follows biblical principles of treating all stakeholders as they would want to be treated.

 

The Eighth Rung Foundation  is currently accepting ideas for business development from all areas of the urban community.
