Joe A. Stornello, Ph.D. brings to the foundation a diverse background in business, entrepreneurship and education.  Dr. Stornello began his career in manufacturing with the Buick Division of General Motors, and then spent more than 20 years in research, teaching and managing his own commercial photography practice.  A specialist in urban policy studies he was the Chancellor’s Interdisciplinary Ph.D. Fellow at the University of Missouri – Kansas City.  He was also a co-founder of the Students of the Social Science Consortium and conducted extensive critical analysis in economics and urban leadership.   Most recently he co-founded The Open Institute, whose purpose is to provide better education opportunities in Flint, Michigan in an atmosphere of cooperation, progressive learning, and critical thinking. He is also active with the Buddhist Relief Mission which supports charities, education and welfare projects throughout the world.

 

William R. Venable III, MBA, MPA has gained more than 20 years of experience in marketing and finance, in positions with divisions of Merrill Lynch, Dean Witter Discover & Co., 20th Century-Fox Film Corporation, UMB Bank, and Sprint. He is currently an assistant professor in the School of Business and Management at Park University. He was awarded the Arthur Mag Ph.D. Fellowship in the Henry Bloch School of Business and Public Administration at the University of Missouri at Kansas City.  There he served on the Research Committee for the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City with Dr. Michael Porter of the Harvard Business School. Active in the small business community, he has served on the boards of many startups and workouts, and has participated in three economic missions to Mexico since 1996 helping Mexican firms identify target markets in the United States.
